Notes on downloading
photographs
I add photos to this site as
thumbnails. This means that you see a tiny version of the real photograph,
allowing the web page to download faster. You can then choose to click on
the thumbnail photo to reach the full-sized version.
If you'd like to print out the
photos for yourself, I'd suggest you do the following. You might find it
helpful to print this page to guide you through the process if you're unfamiliar
with it.
to reach the full-sized photograph
- Right-click on the large
photograph, and choose the option Save Picture As.
- You can then browse to choose
the folder you want to store the photo in - perhaps My Pictures, or My
Documents. Just make sure you remember where you've put it!
- When you've saved the
photo, you can come back to it when you're off-line, as it's now stored
on your own computer.
- Open your word processor
(e.g. Microsoft Word) and insert the photo into a new document.
In MS Word, this is done by choosing Insert-Picture-From File; browse to the
place you stored it in 3 above. NB: You can also use other software,
such as Microsoft Publisher or PowerPoint, if you prefer.
- Now you can control the
size that you print the photograph by clicking on the photo so a border
appears around it; then hover the cursor over one of the corners of the
photo and drag it in or out to change the size. Don't make it too much
larger than the original, though, or the quality will deteriorate.
Hope this is helpful!
